    John Wood Rememberance Ceremony

    Today marks the 38th anniversary of Firefighter John Wood’s line of duty death. Firefighter Wood suffered a heart attack on February 20, 1981 while fighting a wildland interface fire in Parker. This morning the SMFR Honor Guard placed flowers at the South Metro Memorial Plaza during a brief ceremony attended by family, friends and employees. https://www.southmetro.

    On January 29, 2019 Local 858’s Principal Officers met with the Executive Board of F.I.R.E. for a meet and greet. This was a very productive meeting that centered on how our organizations can support each other moving forward. The F.I.R.E. Executive Board is very dedicated to Local 858 and understands the importance of unification amongst all Local 858 members.

    On February 18, 2019 at approximately 15:05 Aurora 911 dispatched Aurora Fire Rescue to a residential structure fire at 22225 E. Glasgow Pl. near the Saddle Rock Golf Course in southeast Aurora. Dispatch alerted units en route that 911 caller reporting that the fire started in the garage and the house is now on fire.

    DFF Charitable Foundation Chili Cook-Off

    On Friday, February 22, 2019 MYC will be hosting thier 3rd annual chili cook-off from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Fire Fighter Events Center at 12 Lakeside Lane. All proceeds will go to the Denver Fire Fighters Charitable Foundation. If you are interested in entering a crockpot of red or green chili, please contact Evan Soibelman (T-31-B) as soon as possible.

    At 1 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, several 911 callers reported a house on fire at 9442 N. Highway 85 in Douglas County. First arriving Battalion Chief 1 reported smoke showing from the 2nd floor of a small, single family home and confirmed with the occupants that everyone had safely evacuated without injuries. The area doesn’t have fire hydrants, so a large response included Tenders to truck large volumes of water to the scene.

Lynn Firefighters Day was established by the Lynn City Council following a fire at City Box 41 on February 13, 1895 at Hutchinson Block Hardware on Munroe Street where four Lynn Firefighters made the ultimate sacrifice.

    2nd Alarm Fire: 70 Farmington Ave

    On Monday morning 02/11/2019 the NLFD responded to a report of smoke in the building in 70 Farmington Ave Apartments. On arrival, crews found flames coming from two windows on the 4th floor. A second alarm was called due to the large number of occupancies in the apartments that needed help exiting the building. The NLFD had the fire knocked down under 15 minutes from arrival.
